Raising the next generation of Bahamian leaders

We train young people across The Bahamas in leadership, service and influence — and every student attends free of charge.

Free to every student Island-wide conferences across The Bahamas Non-profit, volunteer-led

What we do

Leadership built from the inside out

Through mentorship, hands-on learning and intentional training, we develop young people from the inside out — identity before influence, character before position, purpose before platform. Our work is not limited to events; we build leadership capacity that lasts.

Leadership conferences

Island-wide events that bring world-class leadership training directly to students.

Workshops and training

School-based sessions that build practical skill in teamwork, communication and self-leadership.

Certification programmes

Recognised youth leadership certification that validates what a student has developed.

Mentorship and career building

Continuous development from early exposure through to advanced leadership roles.

Our flagship programme

Born to Lead Youth Conference

A national conference that travels island to island, bringing leadership training to students who would otherwise never get access to it. Formerly Live2Lead Youth.

Who leads it

The team behind the Institute

Patrice Taylor

Patrice Taylor

President

Patrice is a leadership architect and cultural strategist with nearly 30 years in human resources management, built in the offshore banking sector of The Bahamas. She holds an M.Ed. in Psychology and School Counseling and the SPHRi designation, and is a certified Maxwell Leadership Coach, Trainer, Speaker and DISC Consultant.

She founded Hephzibah Human Capital Solutions and curates Live2Lead Bahamas, the country's licensed Maxwell leadership conference. Her book The Leadership Renaissance: Leading with Purpose reached number one in multiple Amazon leadership categories; her first, No Longer Desolate, guides readers through spiritual realignment with purpose.

A licensed minister with oversight of her church's business ministry, she mentors entrepreneurs and professionals alongside her corporate work. Her message to young leaders is consistent: leadership is not about visibility, it is about responsibility.

Dewey Taylor

Dewey Taylor

Vice President

Dewey holds an MBA and a Master of Science in Management Information Systems, and has spent his career in sales, logistics and customer service across Bahamian business.

He is a World Aquatics referee and a long-standing figure in the Bahamian swimming community, where he has spent years around young athletes at every level of competition. That work shapes what he brings to the Institute: mentorship, and a steady adult presence for young people learning to carry responsibility.

Dr. Alanna McCartney

Dr. Alanna McCartney

Secretary

Dr. McCartney is a human resources executive with more than 30 years of experience spanning international private banking, hospitality and manufacturing. She holds a doctorate in education along with the SPHRi and SHRM-SCP designations.

Her career includes senior human resources leadership in the Bahamian banking sector, recruitment leadership in resort hospitality, and HR management in manufacturing. Alongside that work she lectures, coaches and speaks — on leadership, mentorship, and the power of telling your own story.

Charisma Taylor

Charisma Taylor

Treasurer

Charisma is an Olympian and holds the Bahamian national record in the triple jump at 14.88m, set while competing for the University of Tennessee. She is a NACAC U23 champion and a CARIFTA gold medallist in both the long and triple jump.

At the Paris 2024 Olympic Games she became the first Bahamian woman to contest the Olympic triple jump, and the first Bahamian to compete in two individual events at a Games, adding the 100m hurdles. She holds an MBA.

Students meet someone who has done what she is asking of them: set a goal years out, and train for it when nobody is watching.
